Two Old Folk

They sat side by side together On a bench looking out at sea Just an ordinary old couple With different thoughts and memory He remembers his young love With blonde hair all curly and clean Smelling of herbs after washing Glinting with a shiny sheen. She remembers his blue eyes Piercing right into her soul Eyes that watched over her Making her feel whole Their hands are held tightly She knows how hard they feel Knowing that each callous Was money for another meal He sees the redness of her skin Where years of toil took their toll But with this blemish, it just means They were clean and fed overall. They are just 2 old folks Like Darby and Joan of the song Together in life for many years With each other they know they belong.

It reminds me a little of the old Simon and Garfunkle song, Old Friends. I enjoyed the piece and what it made me feel. Thank you Lisa K.S.
