Two Ladies I
I had a heart that's beating
But knew no words to speak.
I saw the right time passing
And let this gem to break.
I lacked this manly courage
To sell a precious stone
That no one in the village
Deserved but she alone.
If I could ask a query,
And Sol was there to shine,
She'd make her mind so weary
And send a storm to mine.
Her answer, she said, is canned
With an expiry date.
I said to me to be warned
To take a gift, not bait.
