Twisted Tree
Trees split from hurricane frenzy
Revealing their inner core
Helpless in their dying agony
Branch budding shall be no more
No glory of each light green shoot
Growing in length and girth
Strengthening daily with maturity
The trees’ predictable yearly re-birth
In hurricane blasting fury
Gusts twirling west, then east
Whipping, stripping fragile branches
Wilma, the insane, windy beast
