Twisted Time
When we go out you want to know
What time we’ll be back and where is it we go
I say for a meal or maybe a show
We’ll be back in an hour or two, we just go with the flow
But when you go out and are going to be late
How come you never reciprocate?
You go out of the door without a bye your leave
Are you with Peter or maybe with Steve?
The hours tick by and I head off to bed
I know you are sensible not easily lead
The clock winks at me; and the hours pass by
I’m starting to worry I just want to cry
I get up and have a soothing cup of tea
I look at the clock it half past three
I go back to bed and try and sleep
But when I turn over its at the clock I peep
It’s now half past five and I’m starting to worry
No phone call or text oh why don’t you hurry?
Then I hear the key turn in the lock
I breathe a sigh of relief and no longer need to watch the clock.
