Oh brightest twinkling star Stationary as you are... Watching seasons change As they slowly rearrange From winter's snowy birth Whitening most of earth, To see sweet flowers sing With the breath of spring, Into heat of summer's sun Where cooling rivers run, Until the bright hued trees Lose their lovely leaves. You watch it all from afar... My beautiful twinkling star. © Connie Marcum Wong *Note: I wrote this for my 3 and a half year old granddaughter, Carissa, who enjoys poetry. I want to encourage that! I will explain to her that stars only seem to be stationary.

Such a lovely poem for your granddaughter, Connie. Keep encouraging her. I do believe this talent is inborn and is passed on genetically. I have one granddaughter in her third year of college (Education degree with an English major) and she is president of the poetry society there! She started about 3 years old too! Hugs, Sandra

Hi Connie, I've just shown this to my 11 year old granddaughter and she loved it! She too likes poetry, but I must admit that I have 'indirectly' influenced her! ~ Regards // paul

That is wonderful Paul. Thank you for showing it to her and letting me know she liked it. Carissa is just learning about the seasons because we really don't have that much of a change here. We need to pass on a love for poetry so it will never become a lost art. I appreciate your comments Paul. Hugs, Connie

Thank you Lindsay! I am teaching her to memorize short verses, I am with her so much because her parents both work. She has her own room here which delights her. I appreciate your nice comment! Hugs, Connie

I first found out she liked poetry when she was three and I read her a poem I wrote about the sandman. She wanted me to read it to her three times! Thanks a lot. Hugs, Connie

This is beautiful Connie. That is great that you can share your love of poetry with her. I love to do fun poems with my youngest daughter who is almost 6. She loves the rhyming aspect.
