Turned 13
The aroma of herbal tea
Fills the room,
Bringing back all the memories;
All the joyful reminiscences,
I sit back, watching the sun rise…
Contemplating the emerging
Beauty of the orange sunlight,
I feel the reflection of it in my eyes,
At the moment, life’s beauty enraptured
Me,
Light gradually emerged
To turn a new page,
To conceal darkness with new ambitions,
To relive,
I sat there meditating every
Single detail,
As I waited and anticipated
These seconds that will change my life,
As I continued staring deeply,
The sun slowly began to rise,
Filling my eyes with tenderness…
I felt a smooth breeze refreshing my skin,
The sun rose and rose
Becoming half a circle,
It became like the smile of patience
Drawn on my face,
After long minutes of pleasure,
The sun finally came up,
Becoming a full circle in the azure sky;
Like a face that shimmered,
Smiling and smiling…Like I never smiled before,
I stared at the dark, gloomy sky as I heard my sister say,
“Happy 13th birthday Farah!”
She embraced me with excitement and love, as
I thanked her for being the first to say that to me…
“12:01am”
-----------------------------------------
As I woke up the next morning,
Out my window was the sun,
Reflecting its beauty on the earth,
I remembered yesterday…
“Thank you God…Thank you for making this day a page of light that will erase all
the other black pages.”
