Turn the Page

Turn the page I know I've hurt you, in so many ways, In things that I do and in things that I say. Just give me a chance, to prove I can change, Let's just start over, and turn the page. I remember that first day, the day I met you, You were so scared of loving, and being loved too. You said you could never, trust a man again, Cause when trust is broken, it never will mend. Chorus Please, let me make up, for all that I've done, Remember the good days, when we were one. You know I still love you, and that I have changed, So please let me help you to turn the page. So now I beg you, please give me a chance, Let's go out together, for a dinner and dance. Just like the old days, like we used to do, Let me prove it all over, my love for you. All of my persistence, must have worked well on you, You said you remember, that I have some good too. You said I'm forgiven, you let go of your rage. You said let's start all over, let's turn the page. So many years have passed, since we made up, You see it is worth it, to never give up. You too can be happy, at the end of the day, Letting go of resentment, yes, just turn the page. John Derek Hamilton January 12,2013 Revised September 15,2015

An inspiring write, John. Personally, I find it hard to write in the first person unless it is biographical or if not, humorous. You did well, though. Keep writing! hugs!

If there is the possibility that love can win out, we have an obligation to our vows to make it work. However, in some sad instances, where both partners are unwilling, or incapable to try, it's futile....It's happy I am that your relationship proved worth the effort.

Thanks for clearing that up, John. I'm glad you didn't have to deal with those problems.

I also wrote a poem of the same title...Not the same happy ending. It's also a phrase I use when I discover that nothing more can be down to remedy a situation ~ good or bad. I enjoyed your poem.
