True Intimacy

True Intimacy by Kenny Davis   I know what it's like to hold Don't know what it's like to be held I know what it's like to burn But don't know what it's like to melt   My heart knows not what it's like to feel protected Knows not what it's like to feel safe Knows nothing of what it's like to feel the pleasure of being treasured In oh so many ways   I know nothing of the icy hot shivers Of her draping her arms across my chest I know nothing feeling the warmth of her love through the touch of her skin When she would tighly hold my neck   I know not what it's like to hug the luminance of the moon Once the warm rays of the sunset are down For that moment in time, when a King holds his Queen Making him feel blessed to be worthy of his crown   Know nothing of what it's like for time to stand still While getting locked and lost in her eyes To forget about the past to get lost and swept up in the present Shifting the very fabric of space and time   I know nothing of what it's like to make her feel safe from the world when she's held Should such timeless moments be made to last "No weapons formed against us shall prosper." Bringing this very scripture to come to pass   My heart only knows of such a feeling To have yearned and lived for such moments in my dreams Only to wake up to a world, wale up to a life Living without it in my reality   Looking and searching for that intimacy Never knowing if I've found it Never knowing what it feels like to have it But I've forever known what it's like to live without it   © July 2014 k.davis
