True Friendship
TRUE FRIENDSHIP
We met by a click of a mouse
We are friends after all
We sought for joy and solace
We both give it all
If she could ever be the heel
I’m wing to be the sole
She is right there I know
May be trying to think
Perhaps of it tomorrow
If it will fade and sink
But how can I let her know
I’m not a castle built on sand
I’m this one standing on a rock
But that too, she won’t understand
I feel I should tell her more
Or even the stand of my vow
I could say look! “My friend
Your way will be my way
Ruth and Naomi we sh’ll be
Treading the vast lonely land”
May be she will live to see
That I don’t want to be a false friend
I pray by the grace of my lord
That she live to weigh my word
Because it comes not, from near
Not from the tip of my tongue
For it comes after a deep breath
Through the walls of my lungs.
