Tropical Paradise

Alligators bask lazily on tree limbs overhanging the meandering rivers Gentle manatees playfully rise above the water line to catch a breath Such a delight to see these threatened mammals rebounding Palms and Live Oaks stand as sentries on the river banks Casting tropical silhouettes against the orange orb as it succumbs below pink clouds Across the peninsula on the Atlantic coast, seagulls huddle together Winter winds ruffle their feathers as they scavenge for food Even in cold weather, “snowbirds” flock to our shores Retirees leave their footprints on our white sands Each day, their prints are washed away as the tide thrusts its wet arms *Entry for Brian's Imagery contest

I think I saw this one before and it was great. On the diet thing, I think I've lost all I can expect to now. Even though I only lost a little weight, my family thought I was looking good. I guess they are used to the new "me" who is a lot more bustier now!! it's all good!! If I try to lose more, I would not be able to enjoy life!!!

Hi Carolyn, how are you? Hope you're feeling better and had a joyous Christmas! I wish you a better health for 2012! Thank you for commenting "Dragonflies' Dance"! I only read your comment today. I see you really love your "Tropical Paradise"! Wish you best of luck in the contest! My problems with both arms/hands still remain and I'll have many appointments next week. Hopefully 2012 will be a better year for both of us!...Love, Gert

Hi Carolyn, I was a snowbird that used to trek to Sanibel, a paradise indeed. I gather this is where you live, lucky girl; come and taste what we have now. No sun for days so I come to Soup for comfort and companionship. Have a lovely Christmas dear friend. Love, Elizabeth

It is wonderful to hear that some threatened animals are repopulating , Carolyn..I know thru your poetry how much this means to you. There are some postcard images in Tropical Paradise....Tons of them!! I am jealous that you get to visit the beach daily for a cleansing of your mind. Who wouldn't write great poetry with scenery like that? ha ha. I will be thinking of you this week especially..A Merry Christmas to you. A Christmas Hug and Kiss too!! Love, Gwendolen

Oh, my God! If you were to come to Saginaw you would crumple up in a heap - just anything to spare your eyes. What a world of colorful variation you have. I get my goodies from listening to and playing great music. Did you see the Nutcracker, with the New York City ballet and orchestra. It was on Live from Lincoln Center. Best choreography, scenery and all round performance I've seen, and I've seen quite a few. Love, daver
