Toy Machines

Toy Machines By Kevin Robey November 11, 2013 I have started to realize A desire they may despise Fantasies of my own kind Has taken over my mind Toy machines made of the same parts Would it be madness to share the same heart? When we touch our wires will spark Never thought this would be my mark We, both made of bolts and gears Every longing stare locks me in fear Give into this madness, pulling us close Plans I made replaced by juvenile ghosts Just hold my hand, and let them stare They’re all machines fueled by hot air They memorize their programmed lines Synchronize the way circuits should align We can’t live our lives the way they do Batteries die soon, won’t hide from you We’ll burn out bright in full and plain sight With pride for days we’ll shine through the night
