Toy Foible
Some think that by owning “Status Mansion”
or being seen in fine, designer dress
or that through their financial expansion
they will somehow achieve true happiness.
It never quite happens ...
always some hitch
that gives new meaning to the word “idle.”
They can never be wealthy,
only rich.
They have it all,
but they’re suicidal.
They say the one who dies
with the most toys wins,
but possessions
don’t make one's life best
if they haven’t provided for life’s joys
or attained satisfaction, peace and rest.
Neglecting their “reason,”
to “seize the day”,
obsessed with winning,
some forget it’s play.
