Torpedo Grass

Torpedo grass is a noxious weed. To gardeners, it’s a plant they don’t need. Widespread, it almost never grows from seed. Some botanists say it hails from Asia. Others claim the plant comes from Africa. Either way, this weed made it to America. Panicum repens is its taxonomic name. One of the fastest growing weeds is its claim. The grass grows in wetlands and sand dunes rapidly. The rhizomes grow along the ground horizontally. It withstands heat and drought quite hardily. The plant can be used for forage and made into hay. However, most people don’t need it any day. I thank wikipedia.org online encycylopedia for information I needed to write this poem.

hahaha, I think more people use wikipedia today than they do the dictionary. I am betting this is for that political/geographical contest? This looks like it would fit geography topic very well. Good one.

Nice write on a terrible weed! My deceased grandfather used to farm many acres of land and one of the weeds he had to deal with was the Torpedo Grass! Of course with the spray he had even back then, he was able to keep it at bay enough to farm well! Nice write up of this weed Robert! Great Work!!
