Torch Bearer
I woke from slumber yearning for your touch
Once more to melt into your warm embrace
A gentle love like I have never known
Engulfed my senses captivating me
I tried to listen to your beating heart
When silent realization haunted me
A distant memory circumscribed my thoughts
As emptiness became my bedfellow
I sank into my covers of despair
And looked upon the torch within my grasp
The flickering flame was threatening to expire
But reminiscent embers never fail
To re-ignite the fires within my soul
Content to trade a thousand lonely nights
For favor granted me so long ago
I wrapped myself in thoughts of you once more
And lay within the bed that I had made
