Too Late
In the badlands one glorious day,
I discovered a dinosaur bigger,
and meaner than any other kind.
As its bones were revealed,
I wondered at the sight,
what would it be like to meet this monster on a cold,
dreary night?
I watched mesmerized as its massive head was lifted into the air,
teeth long as my hand,
sharp as a scalpel,
I envisioned prey, clamped tight in these massive jaws,
and knew,
none would survive once in this monsters sight.
I paused and looked directly into a huge socket where once was a terrifying eye.
I knew I was right,
as the cable broke,
the last reflection,
imprinted forever,
I realized to late,
there is no escape,
from this monsters enormous bite.
