To Those Who Criticize the South By Elton Camp So you think that it’s our cousins we marry And it’s too long at the saloon we all tarry? That we all have plenty of blacked-out teeth That we are all only mountain men beneath? Especially the summer, no shoes we wear And frizzy and uncombed we keep our hair? We have several lazy hound dogs in the yard And to get us to do any work is very hard? That standard English we are unable to speak Catfish, possum and grits are what we eat? Despite all the unfavorable things you say When you retire, you will come our way

Thanks. I wrote it mainly for a "yankee" brother-in-law who moved here and is always throwing off on the South. But never have I heard of anybody retiring and moving North. Elton
