To the Fallen of Covid 19

To all the fallen of Covid 19 whose deaths were unrecorded and unseen To those who languished in intensive care where Fear unmasked itself to mock each prayer To mothers shedding tears from dawn till night while clutching keepsakes of their children tight To fathers who must raise their kids alone who stoic in their grief, suppress each groan To nurses, doctors, first responders, all who risked their lives in answering the call to face the mayhem, doing what it takes Yet every day the virus raised the stakes To those deprived of saying their goodbyes who could not wipe the tears from closing eyes To those who stood alone beside a grave who mourned the youth that doctors could not save To you now isolated in your house who care for stricken child or unwell spouse To you whose nightmares will not let you sleep who plead of God your loved ones' souls to keep What comfort can I give you who remain when in the news there's talk of a new strain? Just this that Covid 19 will not win To let it crush our souls would be as sin One day we're sure to leave the "hiding place", and not to face our deaths, but live in grace Though normalcy may not be like before, I know that there are blessings still in store Our faith and dreams remain pandemic free... These Covid cannot steal from you or me Humanity has learned what things are dear We found new ways to keep our loved ones near Eileen Manassian

Thanks for the comment, David. Some coutries are still in the throes of this virus. Today 50 cases were recorded in Lebanon. This is now when they are starting to lift some of the restrictions. Sad times...

At lease the level of pollution has gone down. People are realizing what really matters in life and who should be seen as heros. Those are some positives. Thank you for your visit and kind remark. Blessings

Thanks for passing by, dear. Yes...this pandemic has taken its toll all across the globe. Those who are physcially sick have suffered and the rest of us suffer mentally because of it. Please stay safe and well...

You wrote very skillfully on the topic. Did you read Michael tor's Poem of the Day. I truly believe this is what it's all about. Such cruelty and evil in our world.

Let's cling to the uplifting for now, Richard. This pandemic has really affected my mental health. I don't know if you know of Max Lucado. He's an amazing author and I have many of his books. I follow him on instagram. He's a pastor and honestly, his daily talks have really been a balm to me. Sending hugs.

The most powerful and appaling poem I've ever read on the subject, to endure for sure in English poetry as Nashe's Litany on the plague of his days.

I know, Ilene. It's hard to keep being optimistic when you listen to the reports on the news. I feel for those who weren't able to say their goodbyes. Truely heartbreaking. Hope all is well with you. Sending love...

a nice poem to those in need. What astounds me is in my country there are those who are suffering and those who think its all a lot of nothing. It's as if I am living in two separate realities

It's beyond me how some keep saying that it is blow out of proportion. How can it be? Anyway, those who are flouting the directives will endanger others as well as themselves and then they will need help. Thanks for stopping by. I've missed your visits.

A lovely tribute, it's so tragic , many governments especially in the U. K. Could have prepared sooner but they didn't, there will be a reckoning when this passes. And those poor souls who died with only nurses with them at the end because it was so contagious. A second wave would be devastating for us all, well written Eileen. Stay safe Tom

Yes...I believe a second wave will be more devastating than the first. These are trying times, indeed. Not being able to be with family is hard, but not being able to say goodbye is unimaginable. Thanks for the visit. Blessings.
