To Pete

In the flickering candle light, You play the guitar. To oldies on a Sunday night. As we watch the daylight fade. Outside a Humming bird savors his final meal, Of sweet honeysuckle nectar. It searches every tubular bud. The rain comes again. I fold towels in the diminishing light, Peering out the window. Lighting strikes and flashes, One storm exits, another arrives. Your music soothes us as the storm rages on, And the candlelight lowers. Our shadows fade to night, It is you and I as always.
