To Nepal
TO NEPAL
Nights of untold miseries...
Daylights of deadly hazards..
Broken logs of dreams and life..
All drag us into merciless sights..
You reside in your rocky palace
When sanguine fingers are stretched out
From rocks and rubbish
And cry for breath!
Oh light, where do you hide yourself,
Away from the cries of torn mouths,
And bleeding tongues?
It was a land of festive flowers
Now the petals pulled out and dried up
Only some moments He took
To decide
where each of us should be born.
Unless it was for us,
Nepal, you would have borne
Me too inside!
Can it be said we are lucky to lie
On the plains of a land
On which Ganga and yamuna played wet?
Still I say sometimes
In grief we stand near you, Nepal!
We weep with you..
