II Corinthians 12:9-10 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses ... for when I am weak, then I am strong. I am but a blade of grass that's swaying in the breeze, In the sun I'm growing fast but in the dark I freeze. The sun shines on my time alone spent praying to my Lord, But darkness reigns when I'm elsewhere to seek my own reward. Lord, I am the strongest when my own strength fades away, I know I see the clearest when I close my eyes to pray, Father, I am tallest when You bring me to my knees, So bring me to my knees today, Bring me to my knees to pray. Often I am overcome with burdens and with fears, Heaven seems so far away, I wonder if God hears. Then I hear a still, small voice that calls me from within, "I'll never leave you, nor forsake you, even to the end". Lord, I am the strongest when my own strength fades away, I know I see the clearest when I close my eyes to pray, Father, I am tallest when You bring me to my knees, So bring me to my knees today, Bring me to my knees to pray.

Hi, congratulations John on being selected for Poetry Soups 2nd ever Antholgy Book. I love your poem - a blade of grass is tall but sways in the breeze, but you are tallest when praying on your knees, and where you find spiritual reward, and not swaying in the breeze, but kneeling, praying to Our Lord. Bless you John. Hugs, Jennifer.

Your spirituality and belief runs so deeply, it is very moving, I also like the contrasting images of feeling small and insignificant like a blade of grass and then the inspiration of 'I am tallest when You bring me to my knees' - that humility is where strength and courage is found, this is simply splendid~

Oh John, what a beautiful poem/song/prayer! Truly love all the stanzas, but the second and the fourth, expressing faith, joy, trust - bring tears to my eyes. This poem is truly a loving prayer for all mankind on earth - you are one of the few rare poets to pen such golden lines. A fave for me. Love and blessings, Dear John ~ Mala

I really like this work of faith and character. I enjoyed reading each word. Thanks for the visit to my blog and for remembering Wayne in prayer. He is home, walking around some and doing a little. It will take time, but we feel he is going to make a full recovery and maybe feel better than he has in a long time. Sara

Your prayer is how I wish the world felt. There would be no hate or wars and love for humanity would mean trusting everyone. There would be global peace. Your prayer reaches out to claim that peace not just for yourself, but for everyone John. This poem is certainly a Fave for me. I hope you had a blessed Christmas. xxoo

Yes, sit out on your balcony tomorrow, soak up the beauty of nature, and write, write, write! Thanks for your affirmation and encouragement - that means more than a contest win.
