To Mother Allen
To Mother Allen, the structure we’ve built,
That lift up our people high in the sky
Giving God glory and all of the praise,
As we design our minds full of knowledge.
Let our hearts be filled with love as we pass
Our knowledge to the next generation,
No, not tainted, but yet educated.
That is my vision to the young people
To keep your head up and do not lose hope.
To Mother Allen of the youth today.
We’ve came a long way, but yet still struggle
In an imperfect environment where
Professors are accused, student’s confused
Staff is persecuted by media
But yet we must be proud of what we’ve built,
The foundation of our HBCU.
The future is bright young men and women,
You will not fail despite of your background,
Despite of your race that is overlooked,
Keep your head up and don’t ever lose hope.
Lift up your voices and don’t be oppressed,
We’re not dictators, we must encourage
Our students by keeping them inspired
And not in silence or they will be scarred.
Let us be proud of our HBCU
And not take it for granted. We’re too proud
Of our legacy let your voice be heard.
You are the future, don’t be ignored.
To Mother Allen, we give praise to thee.
Lift their hearts and voices, all praise to thee.
