To Lose One's Wings

Do you sit inside the crevice of your mind in reverie? Do you wallow in the moonlit's gentle breeze? Perhaps you smile to yourself. Perhaps you even love to love existence, In all its travesty. Or do you, like me, wilt beneath the light, And try as you might bend down upon the knee? Oh, to not have to dream of grabbing the reigns of destiny with both hands. Oh, to live above paralyzing doubt, soul shriveling grief, Pain-gripping infatuation. To fly, my friend. To fly. I once was much like you. For Fate I never did pause until the final blow- A snake striking in the darkness, Till fall, I finally fell, And dreams, they ceased to be.
