To Endear Me To You

I was looking for a word to base a song around.  I was inspired by the old Association song Cherish, which focused on "cherish" as the theme/keyword.  I decided to use the word "endear", in spite of the odd way it is used in sentences.

What more can I do to endear me to you? How can I endlessly draw your gaze? How might I incline your heart to be mine, To reside beside mine, always? You might have guessed that you are my Muse— The source of all my inspirations. I’m doing my best to respond to your clues To permanently win your affections. Each song that I sing, each verse that I rhyme, Are meant to attract your attentions. Each bouquet that I bring, endless time after time, Are just my endearing enduring expressions. My soul’s compass always points towards you, Pulled by more than just mere attraction. My life is in focus, and my sky’s brightest blue When I am searching in your direction. What more can I do to endear me to you? How can I cement your gaze? What must I refine to call your heart mine, That our paths may entwine, always. Inspired by the song CHERISH by the group The Association. Probably written in 2012 or 2013.

Thanks. The idea was inspired by the old song Cherish, which focuses on the word 'cherish'. I tried to do something similar with the word 'endear'.

I always liked the Association's song Cherish. I tried to do something also based on a powerful sentimental word, and remembered a line from the Beatles' song "I Will" that goes "For the things you do endear you to me". Endear uses that interesting backwards grammar structure.

Ahhh, many times have I thought just that. Chasing that which could not be caught, at least by me it couldn't. Great write!!

Thanks for commenting on another piece. I was rather fond of this one myself. I was trying to come up with a song similar to Cherish by the Association, which focused on 1 word, so I chose to endear as the focus idea.
