To Bring His Heart To Grief

Her silken web she spins fine Dreaming on what she will dine Her work done behind green leaf Waits to bring his heart to grief He looked at the shining thread At inviting silver bed Her smile soft, and sticky sweet A taste of love making treat Closer to her web he drew His friends becoming far and few Drawn to lies, he forgot truth Her heart of hearts was uncouth Behind leaf, her eyes beguile Yet in her heart is bitter bile Revenge on every single soul For him who’d made her not whole She waits with still bated breath To catch and lead him to death Her web of passion invites He’s drawn to her sheer delights Around his body she will spin Gilded layers of her sin Pleasure he has never tried What his woman has denied Secure now within her grip Seductress role she lets slip Shows her ugly seething face Devours him: leaves no trace…. Eileen Manassian Ghali Proverbs 6: 23 - 29 For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life, 24 keeping you from your neighbor’s wife, from the smooth talk of a wayward woman. 25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes. 26 For a prostitute can be had for a loaf of bread, but another man’s wife preys on your very life. 27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? 28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? 29 So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.

Even if you had not added the scripture I would have known what you were referring to.

This is a beautiful poem."Around his body she will spin Gilded layers of her sin" Very strong imagery here. However, the bible commentary at the end distracts, it weakens the poem. It would be better to use the bible commentary in another poem and let it stands on it own. Nice work

at first i thought about the black widow, but this is more fitting a poem for unfaithful husband or men, going after another men's wife! but who is listening. . . ? thanks

I'm listening, Danesh. You have a very good point here...It could be, yes, because I did allude to "his woman" in the write. Still, I wanted to show it through the woman's point of view. Many woman..married or otherwise...don't have an affair because of neglect, unfulfilled needs of love, hurtful relationships. They are very intentional about what they do and the purpose is to destroy...get revenge...take advantage...This poem was about this type of woman who is crafty and sly, and waits to lead astray. Everyone, man/woman is prone to wander...It takes strength of character and divine grace to stand firm.

Yea...I do love the female mantis who gets her sexual desire fulfilled and her hungry tum tum by biting off her mates head and eating him up! Count on you, Mr. Seal, to make it all about the woman...A woman will never get anywhere with a man unless he gives her the green light...FOR SOME....that green light is always ON!

As Drake said below ..Dark..Seductive..I can add intriguing and somehow mysterious.. Where there are lies and no truth..there is never success..wether its by a mistress or her lover or even between husband and wife.It would be great if all marriages were full of love..If the husband could love his wife the way she deserves and vice versa...No one would stray and lovers would stay at bay.The bible is very clear about its rules indeed.Very powerful

Be sure to change the title to "Grief". =) You know the way you describe this piece is the same way I lure my dinner into my mouth when I'm hungry. Especially Lasagna...just sayin'. This has a very, very dark & seductive bit of tone. I LIKE!
