Time For Tears

The wait has been too long but now it’s time To hold with love what she yearned for No words for joy but grateful tears. The radiant face aglow with sparkling tears Cradling her child for the first time She knows it’s been worth waiting for. The fruit of mutual love she’s thankful for She feels its breath and sheds warm tears A lasting bond will grow in time. A precious gift is born; it’s time for tears. ----------------------------------------------------- 1st line of each tercet & final line = pentameter 2nd & 3rd lines of each tercet = tetrameter ----------------------------------------------------- 19th July 2014 Contest: Tritina Challenge Sponsor: Craig Cornish

Exquisite Tritina poem, Paul. Such depth of emotion contained in this small package of poetry. I really loved the ending too. Pure poetry, my friend.

Thank you Faye. I understand that the love and bond between mother and child is a wonderful thing; that is why I find it hard to figure out how parents sometimes are ready to part with new-born children! // paul

I can relate to some extent, and this is exactly how I will feel, if and when I can hold my child in my arms.... This poem is so beautiful, tender, and heartwarming. Very nicely done, Paul!.... Good luck in Craig's contest!

I was at he birth of my daughter in 1988 but missed my son's birth by about 15 minutes. The doctors rushed in to take him during morn hours to save his life and the drive cost me too much time getting there . Your write is monster good , spot on my friend. I can see why you were satisfied and presented it as is.... Good luck in the contest..

Hi Robert!Pity you missed your son's birth; but there is some consolation in having witnessed your daughter's. Unfortunately I was not allowed to be present for both of mine. Those were other days! Glad you enjoyed this write...thank you. // paul

You have clearly explained to many husband/fathers and others the justification for a new mother's tears. It should help them understand. Well-done, Paul; I wish you well in Craig's challenging contest.

Fantastic Paul, I read the comments, and I can say, bringing a child into this world, by adoption or birth, both are miracles, all from love! What a beautiful poem!

I had my baby girl after ten years, and She brought me tears of joy,so this beauty touched me in a personal deeper way.I have a friend who is in the waiting list to adopt a child, after passing through a turmoil to have her natural kids,so then I can feel with her those kind of painful tears. So beautiful this is and adding it to my fvs :)

I am glad you like this poem Charm, especially since you can well relate to it. My friend adopted two baby brothers after having given up hope completely...then the miracle happened...and now she also has two other children of her own!! many thanks for the fav:) // paul

Very well crafted, Paul. The form flowed quite well and didn't seem to get in the way of the message. This truly is a great, joyous moment and just the type of tears that I am very comfortable being around. truly did like this one, my friend.

Thank you Robert. Your comments are most encouraging. One thing I will always miss is not being present at the birth of both my children (in those days, 70s, the father's presence was still not acceptable!). // paul

Thank you Olive_eloi for clicking 'like' on this one! A tercet is composed of three lines of poetry (could be a stanza, as in this case); derived from Latin/Italian (tertius). Yes, a joyous moment! thinking of your sister:) // paul
