Tick Tock Went the Clock

He slashed his wife's neck To get the insurance check The evidence was thin There was a slim chance he might win I watched the accused He looked somewhat amused As his lawyer whispered to him in his ear The outcome was clear The courthouse was still Surrounded by the old bill The verdict was handed over to the Judge The lawyer gave the defendant a nudge He stood up in the dock And kept his eye on the clock Quarter past ten Suddenly mayhem As he was released No justice for the deceased.
