Thy Tears Were Never Meant For Me

Mother dearest, May thou never fret Over me, thy first born Who is furthest from thee yet Be cautious Ne’er undo what worries But, accrue those drops of love For, of the oldest never were they meant Save thy heart Hold back wet tears For another child of other moments That they may be wisely spent When hearth is warm Comfort more my adoring sibs Hold them tight and oh, so close As to feel thy caring, of a lasting breath Mine own love shall be as an offering That is only meant for them As I make my way within the world I'll find myself free from all regrets Oh, mother dearest sweet Thy tears were never meant for me But, if thou must, think of son Be it thus, in dreams upon thy rest And, I will think of thee When nothing else is left
