Through the Window
Through the window looking out
Two woodpeckers fly about
Tapping, pecking, listening intent
Tree to tree like sentries on they went
Standing on the trunk they thought
This must be the dinner tree I sought
They appeared as ornaments upon the tree
Dazzling black and white and breast of red to see
Silently in freedom through the trees they glide
Pictured beauty and boundless fun abide
Never a worry, flying without a care
Woodpeckers glory, magnificent pair
