Thoughts of the Empire State Building

They talk about me in Cincinnati and Kalamazoo In Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Russia and Timbuktu. They like my photos but few travel to New York City. Where the Broadway shows are spectacular and witty. A skyscraper, what is that? Asks a child from Chad. I’m the Empire State Building, beautiful and bad. Decorated each December in lights of green and red. Come to New York City, see me, and get amply fed.

Even with all those fancy new skyscrapers in Abu Dhabi and whatnot, are they still talking about that E.S. Bldg?!

as a new yorker, this is something i've always taken for granted, but once upon a time, it was the tallest building in the world and deserved all the accolades used to describe it. i'm glad it's still considered special now that many other buildings have surpassed it in height. cool poem, caren!

I am fortunate to have seen it thrice in my visit to the States ! It is spectacular, more or less like the destroyed twin towers !
