As we prepare to celebrate Veteran's Day, we express our appreciation to the patriots who risk their lives to protect our freedom.  This poem is dedicated to all Soup members, including Sgt. Bob Hinshaw, who have fought in the service of their countries.

In sandy dunes on my back I lie Dreaming of warm beaches, blue sky And a girl named Lorelei On memories I fly War seen from on high I vow to try Not to cry As I Die Written November 5, 2019 For the Rhyming Nonet contest.

Congratulations on POTD, Carolyn! Your soldier’s thoughts on Lorelei as he lies on sandy beaches knowing he will die, looking at the sky that once delighted them both. Wonderful and sad tribute to all soldiers who give their lives that others might enjoy their freedom.

Carolyn, I knew when I accidentally read this on POTD that it was going to be a winner for sure. An absolute beautiful and terrific write, and a fave for me. You have written a movie that so many have lived and or can relate to, in so little words. Congratulations my dear friend on your 1st place win. Love & hugs...Charlie
