I awoke dreaming I was at a furneral and thought how much they had taught me and from those thoughts this poem grew
THOSE
Spare those that shaped your life a (thought)
The people that were always there to guide you.
That showed you a new path you had missed
changing the way you saw things opening your mind.
Those who were with in your great hours of need.
The shy child standing before the school gates.
Trembling with fear, clinging desperately to mum
Who herself is shaking as gently she hands over her child.
The teacher who leads you away and passes you over
to other children that soon become best friends.
With whom you spend learning lent over a desk
ang charging around the playground causing havoc.
Such an exciting place as you drink in knowledge
about the wild wide world that surrounds you.
taking you on mystical tours of wonderous places
that lead to exotic experiences outside this world.
As you travel onwards meeting new people seeking
new thoughts and ideas spare a moment for Those
that have so far shaped and taught you making you
a person so completely different from any other.
As you go on in life you meet people with different ideas
starting a brand new learning curve that can be added to.
but listen to your heart because they can lead you astray
not all knowledge is good quickly you sort the wheat from the chaff.
Standing at a graveside you realize THOSE special people
that helped shape you, that made who you are now
Let them flood your mind and remember fondly
How much they once taught and meant to you
