This Too Shall Pass

They say, "This to shall pass", so will my life This trauma more than just a moment's strife My heart has scarred from pain it has sustained And though the storm has passed, I'm withered, drained "This too pass" so will my innocence My soul is famished without sustenance What will not pass is burden of this grief That masquerades as guest though cruel theif "This too shall pass": no solance for my pain It's haunting echos howl in blinding rain I can not see the hint of dawning light This adage mocks my soul in dead of night "This too shall pass" and leave me without soul It's gruesome passing left a heavy toll I am alive or am I, who can tell? Dumbfounded, here I stand at gates of hell "This too shall pass," I hear angelic voice. "Don't end it now, but make the better choice To live in hope and overcome your fears For now rest in my arms, I'll wipe your tears." I held on tight, immersed in sweetest bliss The comfort that he gave was heaven's kiss "This too shall pass," I mused, "but life remains My will to live it all is what prevails." Eileen Manassian

This is viscerally moving. I have experienced depression but thankfully not to the extent you have dealt with. My heart aches for you. Hugs Rick.

I found out that this is depression. And like this poem a man said to me" You will get over that" and I did. But the price was three years sadness.

It can be a difficult journey. Some are more adept at navigating those vicissitudes. I've had a lot on my plate recently. Trying to get back into the game.

These last two poems have me worried. Are you ok? Charmaine, my new friend, has a saying: Life is beautiful - live! Wishing you the best

I wasn't at the time I wrote this. I'm better now. Visiting my daughter in Cyprus while my husband holds down the fort in Lebanon. He thought I needed to get away. I'm grateful that's he's looking after my 87 year old dad while I recuperate.

The grief and burden are so well expressed in your poetic pen, Eileen. Thank the Lord He gives you “heaven’s kiss” amidst the trials of this life. So glad to read your poetry again!

The Lord is an ever present help in time of need. What would we do without Him? The problem is... sometimes I get so overwhelmed that I don't come to Him for help. When I do... I'm never disappointed. Big hugs

Eileen, your lovely lyrical rhythms flow so effortlessly, though the storms of pain rage on. Sometimes holding on tight is all that's left. Deep and soulful writing ~ John

Though on my FB all the time I still missed her on soup until now. I had to catch your picture and then I read. This is a piece of which I can write something about. Because it is poetic. Some of the pieces now a days just arn't. But lets hope "This too shall pass"

Your poetry reads very well. So much truth in it and in life we all have to face obstacles. How we face them is what matters. A fav.. God bless you, my friend.
