This To Will Pass Away

This To Will Pass Away He worked a lifetime on an ageless thing, An ideal, lofty and high. But there was one who whispered. "This to, will die". They carved a statue out of stone, And swore that it would stay. But like a man made out of dust. This soon was gone away. One gathered fortunes vast and sure, And boasted with a song. Naked he stood before his God. His fortunes to were gone. Build what you will and watch it fall; Tis but a game we mortals play. For life is fleeting as the wind; And all to soon will pass away. God alone stands straight and sure. In His well-ordered rim. However fine our work is vain. Unless we work for Him. With bowed head I labor on; In tears from day to day. Yet in each new sorrow I find hope. Thank God this to, will pass away.

Another poem with a taste of the eternal. Nicely done. (See soup mail). ~ Gershon
