This Silence
No more do church bells ring from lofty spire;
No more do clock chimes sing from o’er the fire;
No more do children call from treehouse fort;
No more does traffic stall with sharp report.
Dim silence has o’ertaken sea and land,
For men have now forsaken fellow man.
This silence sounds the death knell for us all;
This silence ‘round the reaper comes to call.
Let not this silence rule our heart; our mind.
Rise up with love; with peace impart mankind.
