This Maternal Love
A calf swims close to his
Maternal love, never leaving her sight.
And she tells him he will never
drift to far for her to find him again.
But is soon carried away by a
current too strong to resist.
And now he drifts so sad and slow.
He continues until he is found
by new guardians and although
they are kind, they can never
replace the mother he has lost.
He soon is of age were they
can guide him no more.
He then wanders into a vast
and strange world he is unsure of.
One that is full of such beauty ...
yet one which is so very harsh.
He often hears a beautiful voice
not heard since the days of youth.
But when he turns to look he sees
only empty water, and the voice
seems so distant.
A day comes when he feels tired
of swimming. He has given up all
hope of his return to her.
Then suddenly confused by what
he hears, he turns to look back.
Hearing songs of sorrow, and of
love. he is filled with hope that
he once thought was forever lost.
So he follows until he sees a
wonderfully familiar sight.
Could it be, after all these years.
Would he finally be together at
last with the mother he had lost
soo long ago.
The calf swims closer ... closer ...
closer. And as he draws nearer
he sees her.
But she doesn't Recognize him ...
Until he calls out for her.
At last she remembers, then he
swims until they are reunited once
more.
Now they swim an ocean not alone
but forever in one another's love.
