This Is the Place
this is the place that feels like home
where the smell of chlorine fills your nose
and diving into the water,
you just wish that it was hotter.
this is the place where you feel that rush
and over the room falls a hush
as the competitors take the blocks
waiting for the timers to ready their clocks.
this is the place where you cheer on your friends,
during the 500 that never seems to end
countless laps of slow freestyle
after it feels as if you swam a mile
and this is the place where you sprint to the wall
and always try to give it your all.
your goggles tight and your cap on,
this is the place where you belong.
