This Fire

4. Live. And live it for today. Heed not the ghosts of past and pain Feel every drop of summer rain Kiss your pale, hot skin And take your breath away Though the brightest spark may fade Let not the wind of discontent Extinguish precious sentiment For this fire, my love Was born to be re-made Walk, and feel the ground below Your feet, not roots but wings you see Find solace in serenity Tread, but softly now Or wake the sleeping snow Brightly look upon this face Which gazes back through curtained tears Tracing the scars of perfect years You are there, in us Your first and last embrace Love, and learn to love once more Though hardened now your cotton heart Once comforted by counterpart Stifled, craves escape Was Beautiful before.
