This Building Held His Dreams
This building held his dreams.
Its sturdy walls and sloping roof
Contained his hopes and fears.
It nursed him as it stood aloof,
Its doors and windows closed.
The mocking world was kept at bay
And failure mattered less.
His constant allies, night or day,
The floorboards, bricks and beams:
This building safely held his dreams.
