Third Grade Recitation

My cousin and I were dismayed By the kids who were in her third grade They had no answers to tell Though they spoke very well And knew how impressions were made! They earned an A+ for endurance For displaying remarkable effluence They could babble all night With no fact in sight Nor any sign of congruence! Oh, how wise we thought that we were We could see their minds were a blur! But now, mid-elections And selfie confections We see why they were so sure.

I envy and admire kids who can show such character so young. I didn't start "showing off" until around the fifth grade, as I recall. And I also admire how versatile the limerick form can be. Well done, E.

I'm sure these 3rd graders would have made good glib talk show hosts or politicians! Enjoyed your clever wording, Robert

No kidding! 20 years ago... Oh, well. I guess things are worse off than I imagined!

Exactly, Gershon! The horrible part is that this conversation took place 20 years ago! Elizabeth

I do love a limerick, Ken. I have to ration or I'll find my whole day doing dah-dit-dah, dah-dit-dah, dah-dit-dah! Elizabeth
