Thinking You Are In Love

What happens that pushes you over the edge, That makes you walk out on that limb? Is pain what convinces you that love is real Or just fascination you feel? Why can't your love be like a tasty dessert One slowly enjoys after meals, Perhaps with a glass of a fruity white wine, With finish that's simply divine? But most of us won't let comparisons rest, As if divine gift weren't enough, Tomorrow must bring us new levels of bliss Today just a foretaste of this. Like children we take Grandma's coin to the store, But cry at the sight of new treat, Our favorite candy we firmly rebuff, When money we have's not enough. And this is the Love that does not love us back? My God, are you sick in the head? A new girl that's wrapped up in colors quite bright, Predestines your soul to Hell's night? But yes, my child, I can see how you are wronged! Though fault isn't hers, it's just you! You should be ashamed putting blame upon her, Your boundaries only a blur! Love does not control but gives others free rein, Takes joy in the loved person's dreams, In true love you see comes remarkable shift, The other's joy becomes your gift.
