They Call Out One By One

They call out, one by one This one’s got it, then the other You just keep going and hope the day soon comes When the whispering of names is done We try to social distance, a mask we’re given but no cape Even all the work places are measured out with tape Work says all be careful where you go and keep safe in your mind But who can say where the others go when they’re out on their own time You don’t step foot in anyplace except to get essentials Then you find who’s positive is the guy in the next cubicle You tell the others keep your distance and breathe the other way But then you see them walking the halls without their mask in place HR sends out messages galore to remind all to be sure To cover up, be safe, vigilance is very important to everyone and more You use your emails, messenger and phone as much as you are able But there’s always those who insist they must walk up to your table And no matter how careful you are it may not even matter Cause if your neighbor doesn’t give a hoot then all we’re told is chatter
