THESE HOLIDAYS
These holidays, like a whirlwind romance…can’t catch my breath. Hustle and bustle of parties and gifts. Figuring it all out, the list, counting it at least twice. Birthday parties piled up, tissue paper scattered like snowballs or tumbleweed. Rolling the dice, flipping cards, cookies and cake some more…some more. New Year’s Eve brings a birthday not a hollow ring, nor cutesy bells. Initialization of the New Year, more of the same, as my baby was sick during December - first her youngest then mine.

I exaggerate, but the shirt cannot be found for evidence so you will have to take my word for it. Don’t call me a liar, for too many folks have their “pants on fire,” if they can find their pants, for they even misplace their cocaine.
These holidays I run through like I am running on hot coals, still thinking of others. One fun annual event is going to the Melting Pot with my sisters. The one time of year we disappear from our lives, dress up and just laugh and laugh some more, cheer ourselves as if we were little kids, dripping with chocolate treats.

So, is it over after the first? You might think so, but then the third. Yes, the third is time for more cake and ice cream. I’m creamed…tired, that is. Frothing topples over into January. I can’t win, you know. I’ve tried. So somewhere down the line, I have to get my waistline back.
sense of humor kept
up-down I drift on the raft -
days of endless froth
I am not complaining. Life is full. I’m retired but the calendar is full. There is time for slow down. I don’t hope for that yet. Meetings set, beta book readings, one year Bible…ahh…in the beginning…for somehow it tickled me to read as I bought my book at a library sale and started with October, thus I just finished Revelation.
going on and on
sorry for the long poem -
Happy New Year friends
