These Eyes
These eyes that let me see the world
and all the things my life's unfurled
are such a gift, and yet a curse.
For they record each rhyme and verse.
These eyes have seen so many things.
They're full of memories and dreams.
Storing them like vintage wine
in the recesses of my mind.
These eyes have seen such happiness
and shed the tears of loneliness.
They've seen the truth and vicious lies.
Things I love, things I despise.
These eyes I sometimes wish would close.
I fear that they're over exposed.
For all the joy that they've absorbed,
so much more pain lies in these orbs.
