There Was a Country Song Playing On the Stereo

There was a country song playing on the stereo The night she walked out of my door I don’t ever want to hear a guitar strum The G-C-D chords any more There was a fiddle in the background And a banjo picking along I remember every mistake that I ever made Every time I hear a country song Now you may want to do a two-step Or a square dance country-style But every time I hear a Jew’s harp twang I lose hold of my happy smile There was a country song playing on the stereo The night she took off my ring So if you want to see this grown man cry Just let me hear Johnny Cash and June Carter sing
