The Winter Palace (A Song Lyric)
I put my fingers on the pulse,
And there's nothing to be found,
Just the silence of the night,
No more rhythm, no more sound,
But if you let me take you home
I'll be glad to hang around.
The Winter Palace is a place of dreams,
A hundred thousand possibilities,
When the daylight breaks beyond the trees,
We're on the outside,
We're on the outside once again.
I couldn't help but notice you,
Standing just outside the door,
Crying softly to yourself,
Tearful eyes fixed on the floor,
But if you'd only let me in
I could give you so much more.
The Winter Palace is a place of dreams,
A hundred thousand possibilities,
When the daylight breaks beyond the trees,
We're on the outside,
We're on the outside once again.
Lifestyles of the lost and lonely
Are not reserved for us two only,
So many people on their own,
But we don't need to be alone.
I put my fingers on the pulse,
And there's nothing to be found,
Just the silence of the night,
No more rhythm, no more sound,
But if you let me take you home
I'll be glad to hang around.
The Winter Palace is a place of dreams,
A hundred thousand possibilities,
When the daylight breaks beyond the trees,
We're on the outside,
We're on the outside once again.
