When it left the Arctic it was as a wild angry wind that stormed its way across the ice bound Arctic ocean. Blowing the snow clad icebergs and whipping up the ocean. As it crossed Alaska and into Canada it had gentled now it played games with leaves and softly kissed flowers. Gaily it soared over the Rockies and tugged goats beards causing them to shake their heads and stamp their feet. In Playful mood it swept on hugging the coast awhile then veering inland, it travels the plains and grows in strength turning into a raging tornado causing havoc as it passes. Moving ever southward it basks in now warm sunshine and skips over the gulf of Mexico filling yachts sails. Deep down in South America it turns into a wild fury that uproots trees snapping them in half like matchsticks, Then onward once more dancing past the Falkland islands. Its destiny is now in sight and with triumphant roar it rushes on over the Antarctic ocean and slides up the icy barrier then screams its way across the tundra yet slowly it loses its power and as it reaches the incline this moody wind fades away until with final breath it dies.

hey dear, i was scolling throu the comments and everybody seems to be thrilled with the piece. i prefer to differ a little 1. your poem is not all that bad, its good it has something in it, for a poet likie me, i feel it soundes much like you are storytelling. its as if you are narrating a story in form of a poem which is slightly not good for poets. so i would ask you to work on that 2. you have a very good descriptive power, use it to upgrade your poetry. its gonna help you a lot.

I traveled along with the wind,:) and I had a nice scenic ride, I would believe many don't consider where that first breeze happened and rippled out till it got so far it landed, crashing like a wave,

Hi Shadow, This was a very enjoyable trip and I didn't even have to pay for airfare. The wind is free. It didn't have a happy ending but that's ok. There should be another wind coming right around the corner. Congratulations on your membership upgrade also. Good luck. Keep up the good work. Take care. Earl

Wow! A great poem about Nature! It seems the poet said it in one breath. It has a smooth flow and imagination, a bit like Wordsworth. May I suggest that the word 'as' in the first line be substituted with the word 'like'?? On the whole I enjoyed reading the poem and await more from the lady.

Looking forward to a lifetime of your poetry, congratulations on taking the plunge to become a lifetime member! I've heard it said that a wind phenomena like a hurricane or a tornado begins with a butterfly's wing motion! Keep flapping your pen.

Shadow, A very compelling Personification write here indeed!! I enjoyed your work here very much!! (I should mention, however, that in the first five-verse stanza "Artic" which appears twice should be spelled "Arctic." This looks like a typo. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of this.) The geographical imagery employed in your poem guides the reader quite persuasively along the majestic track that "The Wind" takes until it fades away and dies. A "7" from me and a FAV too!! Cheers, Gary
