The White Albatross
Here at the edge of this timeless bay
Where his life’s raft crashed against shoal
The seafarer’s ashes were placed to stay
Now it’s the home of his roaming soul
She stole his heart when he ventured ashore
And kept it close when he sailed the blue
His story and this place became part of sea lore
She went there often, as if drawn by his cue
Each year for forty she returned to his side
To hear waves crash and adorn her seat
To sit in the swells and push at the tide
To wait forever 'till once more they’d meet
Upon her passing, and each year evermore
Happened the summons of the white albatross
Who road the winds and spied the shore
Sailing the currents with their hearts he'd soar
