The water and the blood
The water was so often sweet
But the blood held its sway
Thicker and entwined DNA
Always got in the way
The water was always there
Cool and wild and deep
But the blood went ever deeper
Coursing through every generation
The water was pure and calm
Sometimes fast and unpredictable
Blood could often be that way
Human nature doing the unthinkable
The water was nurturing and safe
It floated me along its course
The blood took me the opposite way
So often a dark and threatening force
The water was always my choice
The blood no choice but to walk away
I guess that's how life works
We get to connect with the ones who stay
The water and the blood
Both necessary for our survival
But ultimately you'll discover in time
What's best to inspire your thriving
