"...The Voice of the Turtle"

It must be springtime for she lumbers by her nest below the fig tree. Hatchlings soon appear to scamper into the sea. She cries out to, "Watch for eagles above!" then turns away; her voice now in praise of new life. ... title inspired by The Song of Solomon 2:12

Yes! I love turtles. It used to scare me when my pet turtle got turned over on his back. I didn't think he could right himself again. Love your use of multiple Haiku, one of my favorite things to do. Love, daver

As a longtime member of the Seaturtle Survival League, I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. They are such beautiful, peaceful creatures, Sue. There are some eagles in the woodlands near the Florida gulf coast, but the worst problem the turle hatchlings face is the lights from motels. They wake and walk toward them, thinking they are strolling toward the rising sun. Hope we can keep the endangered turtles around for generations to come. Love, Carolyn
