The Virus on Our Earth

I'd always longed to be a bird To spread my wings and fly To soar around on thermals Up in the bright blue sky But now I know what I would see The blight of man on earth It wouldn't be pretty from up there What man has done since his birth We have ripped out nature To build our homes We've replaced trees With towers and domes We've covered the earth With cement and tar Everywhere you look There's car after car The pollution makes it hard to see No clean air left to breathe We're choking on our own garbage And there will be no reprieve We've removed mountains To build our ugly towers We've made huge holes That killed animals & flowers We think nothing of spraying Poisons everywhere As long as it's how we want We really just don't care We fill our land with discarded As long as we get what we wish Who cares that we're choking the oceans And killing the reefs and fish Oh man! what have we done To this world created for us I know you hear my words But claim I'm making a fuss Because none of us wants to change We won't give anything away We'll sit back and relax Leave the worry for another day I don't want to fly anymore I'll sit amongst the trees I've grown Eat my food and drink herbal teas All from seeds that I have sown I'll pretend that nature is winning And dream that it comes true But I know it won't ever happen Without action from me and you
